Homebase kindly sent me some wallpaper and accessories for a bedroom makeover, I’ve documented the reasons for the makeover and the items I am using from the stylish Anthology range here. You can also see the full extent of my floordrobe horror in that post if you really want to.
Welcome to the during post!
Sorry about the mess, try not to tread on anything, don’t get too close to Mr G he has a stinking cold, have you met the new dog? Or Craig the decorator? Tea? Biscuit?
I posted this picture above on Instagram, admittedly before the paper had dried and so it was a bit bubbly and not at it’s best, but there was a resounding flurry of likes. So I conclude it is not just me who thinks it is awesome. The paper has a much more dramatic tint than I expected, which I love, the black outlines against the grey gold back ground is really striking.
You know what it is like when you have work going on in the house, I always underestimate the amount of disruption it will cause. Thank goodness for Craig of Rumford Decorating, he coped brilliantly with Mr G who was off sick and determined to show him every one of his lego figures, and our new dog who followed him round all day. He made a fabulous job of the wallpaper too. Here you can see the transformation starting to take place.
I am really pleased with the butterfly wallpaper K2 Trifali – Mocha. At only £10.39 a roll it has a metallic sheen which makes it look much more expensive. Although the room still needs a good sort out, I immediately noticed it felt cosier and more elegant. The effect of papering the opposite shorter walls of this long rectangular space has been to make the room seem squarer. We feel less lost in it.
Shopping for accessories in Homebase
Next step was to hit Homebase. I used the reserve function on the website to make sure the items I wanted were waiting in store for me, but Miss L and I had a little look round and decided to add a gold multi picture frame, it was such a bargain at £7.99. It seems a shame to spoil the wallpaper with pictures, it is so striking, so I am planning to put all our pictures along the long wall opposite the bed. You can also catch a glimpse of the globe on the left.
Promise not to tell Miss L, as I might get it her for Christmas, but I think that bird trinket box, on the right, would look fabulous on her shabby chic eBay bargain dressing table. I think she has fallen for the owl candle holder too, which would look great on our living room mantlepiece.
So the makeover is coming along really nicely and I can’t wait to put it all together and reveal the final dream bedroom. Just *cough* the small matter of my floordrobe to solve. And a few jobs for Mr A.
