We’re goin’ to Miami

Party in the city where the heat is on
All night, on the beach till the break of dawn
Welcome to Miami
Buenvenidos a Miami
Bouncin in the club where the heat is on
All night, on the beach till the break of dawn
I’m goin to Miami
Welcome to Miami

We spent a magic night and a day in Miami either side of our Carnival Caribbean cruise (humming Will Smith’s anthem). I’m really excited to share the video of us departing this amazing city on board the Carnival Breeze. Miami with kids might not be quite like the Will Smith song, but it is pretty amazing place. I can’t wait for you to see the video, it is so cool. But first a few snaps…

Best bit was that everyone we met wanted to help us, three people came over to ask if we needed help navigating the people mover and we’d pretty much sussed it out by that point ourselves. Good to know it was free though!

We sadly didn’t have time to make it to South Beach, but we hung out at the Bayside marina area instead. Plenty of time for the kids to hunt souvenirs.

And to admire this amazing, humongous Banyan tree.

They really are quite magical and breathtaking trees.

Amanda from The Ana Mum Diary suggested we try Bubba Gump for family fun. It looks really great, I have to say.

But Mr A had his heart set on the Hard Rock Cafe, for the rock and the views…

In we went, admiring artefacts and explaining ancient rockers to the kids as we went.

With only a short time in Miami, what we wanted was a lunch with a view, and it did not disappoint.

L and G really got into the swing of life in Miami…

We had a huge and probably unnecessary sharing platter…

Followed by a veggie/ not veggie burgers…

Then we had Hagen Daz ice cream. Yeah I know, bit excessive, but with one day to play with in Miami what’s a kid to do?

The journey back to the hotel on the people mover was a great and free way to see the city.

Sea and skyscrapers and palm trees. Just a short walk back to the hotel, but we’ve found CSI Miami, or perhaps they’re just painting new lines on the tarmac? Nah, whispered Mr A, there has to be a body under there.

Back to the incredible, airy marble hotel. Ah American hotels, they are so big and they have posh drive in entrances. L swam an incredible 16 lengths in the outdoor pool as buzzards swooped ahead and palm trees swayed. It was like being in a movie.

Mr A wants to move here. I was very sold, sunshine in February is a very lovely thing indeed, or in the words of Mr Smith ‘Miami bringin heat for real’.

Miami was our gateway to a Carnival cruise onboard Carnival Breeze as their ‘funnest family’.  Here is the first of the videos we starred in on our trip. For most of us what happens on holiday stays on holiday, but not The Alexanders. So…I will warn you, we did some seriously cheesy dancing, get over it and have a giggle at our expense….

More on the cruise here. Carnival only asked me for one blog post about our cruise, however, I loved it so much I have to keep finding more ways to share our travels.

We stayed at the JW Marriot hotel, they also have one on South beach which would be worth checking out.

I am loving these stories of your travels. Miami looks amazing. I really want to go and see the Art Deco buildings all along the front.

And where Real Housewives of Miami is filmed. not that I watch it of course. A friend told me about it.

Yay you found the tree! I didn’t tell you about it, on purpose, as I though you might be able to have a drink, and eat, whilst the children played in that area. To be honest South Beach(apart from the beach) isn’t all that, you were better staying there. We stayed just around the corner at Coconut grove, which was lovely too. CSI miami was being filmed whilst we were there and they closed the road by our hotel. Miami is used alot I think for location work.

Brilliant! You have got to love Miami. One of my favourite things to do there is head to the Cuban district and stuff my face with lots of lovely food! 😀
