The inside cover of Raymond Brigg's Father Christmas. This year was my first Christmas not spent with my parents. My Mum has been gone for nearly six years now, this year Dad was poorly and decided to stay at home and focus on getting well for his amazing fortnight bird watching in the Scottish highlands. It felt a little strange, but we talked on the phone a couple of times a day, about our trip to Lapland and his trip to Scotland. Food and nature and travels are passions I picked up from Dad. Now our long awaited Christmas celebration in January is tomorrow and I love that I have another Christmas to look forward to. I've made nut roast and onion gravy, we even have a pudding and crackers, and presents we've not yet opened!
