Guess who’s back? #TeamHonk2014

Red Nose Angels at the Ready, in ethical pants from Who Made Your Pants

Drum roll please…

Without further ado I am really excited to announce that the award-winning, fun-raising phenomenon commonly known as TEAM HONK is officially back for 2014.

That’s you that is! All you people who made Team Honk rock so much last year, and all you who fancy some fun this year. Guess what?

Team Honk won a Brilliance in Blogging Award for Commentary and…da da da…. Comic Relief’s Good News activity from Ghana for Red Nose Day, which Team Honk collaborated on, has now been shortlisted in the Media Relations category at the PRCA awards!

Dream team!

This year the focus is SPORT RELIEF. But before you shunt off to the back of the changing rooms, or try and bunk off, do not fear, we at Team Honk HQ take a very broad minded view of sport. We want as many recruits as possible, we want to be as all encompassing as possible.

Our vision is one where everyone: bloggers, tweeters, friends and families can come together under the umbrella of Team Honk 2014 and help us whip our amazing £10,000 worth of fun-raising for Comic Relief last year, into something even more incredible.

Sport Relief have made it dead easy to get involved. Sport Relief is back on Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd March 2014, and for the first time ever the public can run, swim or cycle in the brand new Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games.  (If those sports aren’t for you, stay tuned, I am coming to you).

Of course, Team Honk 2014 would love to see as many people as possible doing an official event over that weekend, whether it is taking part in your local Sport Relief mile with your kids, joining a newly added Swimathon event round the country or even joining the new cycling events in London, Glasgow and Manchester. So you can:

  • Walk, jog or run the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile, choosing from 1, 3 or 6 mile distances
  • Make a splash with the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Swimathon, and choose from a range of individual and team distances, including 1.5km, 2.5km and 5km or you can choose your own distance with SimplySwim
  • Get on your bike and take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Cycle, taking place in Glasgow, Manchester and London. Participants can cycle 25 miles, 50 miles or get the whole family involved in a 3 mile cycle.
  • More info on all events here
Fancy joining up with a team?

London Baby

Annie and I will be leading Team Honk London, a once in a lifetime event to swim, run or cycle in London’s iconic Olympic venues! So if you fancy joining us, check out these amazing events on offer at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

You can do any event, or combination of events and be part of the London team. I am desperate to regain my fitness, and see this as a great opportunity to train. I have my eye on a run and a swim currently. You can join Team Honk London facebook group here.

Don’t fancy London?

Perhaps you would like to help co-ordinate some bloggers in your city or local area? We would love to hear from you! Could you be Team Honk 2014 Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Nottingham, Bristol, Brighton, Edinburgh, St Albans, or in fact any city, town or remote location! Team Honk Snowdon really benefited from working as a team to prepare and fundraise last year. All it took was a facebook group!

We will have more info on how to help your school organise a Sport Relief mile too.

Not your idea of sport?

Well we kind of thought you might have some wacky ideas, being the amazing people that drove Team Honk to such success last year.

Team Honk can only get bigger with more people leading more sporty fun and more teams. Whether it is a sponsored darts match, arm wrestling, mountain climbing or street dancing, we promise you all the support and the safety net of being a part of one big Team Honk fundrasing team.

We have another rather amazingly awesome plot to tell you about on October 16th…

Yes…there is a #SECRETTHING2

It is awesome. It is all encompassing. It is epic. It is possible to join and still be back for tea.

  7. 02/10/2013 / 10:46 am

I may be being incredibly thick here, but, do you have to RUN the mile or could we walk it as a family? Love the idea but I cannot run to save my life (dodgy joints that pop out of place on high impact… I’d spend the whole mile falling flat on my face if I tried that!!) If you can walk, then I shall chat to Tim and hopefully see you in London 🙂

    • 02/10/2013 / 10:49 am

      Hi Amanda he he!

You can do whatever you like to get to the end of the mile and of course it is for all the family 🙂 You can do it in London or join your local mile, all the info on different events is on sportrelief.com 🙂
