I won’t lie, when Next invited us to their Head Office to see the Next Summer 2014 collections for kids, I had reservations – two hours in a mock clothes shop didn’t sound like the sort of thing my two would cope with well. Here’s the evidence from the official photographer, and my own snaps…
Luckily, Next had gone all out to make a child friendly day, for everyone from babies to teens. There were lots of toys to play with and snacks on hand. The kids soon found friends.
To keep them out of trouble, and because I was interested in what the kids thought about Next clothes. I took along a small camera. I let them take pictures of what caught their eye…
Mr G, much to the interest of the Next buyers, was fascinated by the characters on the pants. Which is his favourite they asked? Spiderman, judging by the smile in this picture.
He immediately wanted all the T shirts with super-heros and Lego.
He wanted the football shirts
He wasn’t entering in to any discussion over what he might wear to Uncle A’s wedding, even if L and I thought the suits would look great on him.
Instead he thought L should have this baby swimsuit…
The days of cute outfits are gone…he laughed in my face at this one. My nephew maybe?
L wasn’t going to let it rest though! I wish he’d wear mad prints, but he is his father’s son.
L’s one with firm tastes too though, she hates colour and florals…
Like her mum she prefers understated neutrals. It was good to see Next shoes looking more like kids’ shoes than grown ups, on previous visits that has concerned me.
She’s been there, done pink very briefly, now it is all blue, blue blue. We bought lots from this range for the Carnival Cruise we went on in February, as it is great for casual mixing and matching – your own capsule wardrobe at 7, I wish clothes shopping was that easy for grown ups!
Grey is also deemed cool. Dresses are not, but play suits are.
She loves this, but I just think kids clothes can be fun without being tacky, or too grown up. This season, however I am pleased to report, there seemed to be ranges to please everyone and a return to kids being kids.
Accessorising is great too – the kids were so pleased with the accessories in their goody bags:
Anything catch your eye? have you done any kids’ clothes shopping in the Next Summer 2014 collections?
Thanks to Next for having us, for a tour of the new range at HQ, and for the pizza afterwards!
