Camp Bestival Festival 2014 – tips from bloggers

Katie from Chubs and Love, Lucy from Lulastic, Me, and Becky from Munchies and Munchkins

Katie from Chubs and Love, Lucy from Lulastic, Me, and Becky from Munchies and Munchkins

A big challenge for family festival organisers is communicating to parents exactly what festival going with kids is like.  I looked to other people’s blog posts to help me decide what to pack, expect and to do for our last two years at Camp Bestival, and lots of people looked at my packing list. Now I can’t wait for Camp Bestival festival 2014, we might even manage to get the glam into camping this year!

These ladies above (bar me) go to show that babies are perfectly portable and able to join the fun at Camp Bestival. It is even possible while pregnant! Check out ChubsandLoveLulastic and Munchies and Munchkins for more advice, tips and ideas!

So I thought I would share the line up and share some great posts from other bloggers to help you decide that Camp Bestival festival 2014 IS what you need in your life!

To be honest the line up doesn’t matter hugely to me, there is so much cool stuff to do that the bands are a bonus, but look at this, how excited am I?

Last year, thanks to Twitter, I met lots of bloggers in the fabulous Bollywood Bar for Pimms. We couldn’t have been more excited to be sneaking off for an hour of child free time. Hanging out with other families makes it easier to share the childcare and gives the kids playmates too.

Camp bestival tips from parent bloggers

Hello its Gemma, Alison from Not Another Mummy Blog and Viv from 76 Sunflowers

Hello its Gemma first made me aware of Camp Bestival and it was this post that made me think I want to go there! I first went along in 2012 with a 3 and a 5 year old and we fell in love with Camp Bestival, you can read all about our tips for that age group.  Gemma came along again in 2013 and it was wonderful to meet up, and for our families to hang out together.

Last year Mr A decided we should glamp in celebration of our 15th anniversary, we stayed in an amazing Bluebell bell tent, read more about how it went with a 4 and 6 year old, and find that bell tent contact here.  Apart from meeting for Pimms, Alison from Not Another Mummy Blog was in the queue for the shower behind me with her gorgeous two-year-old-at-the-time girl, they stayed in Pod Pads in the glamping field and loved them, read more about that here.

I first met Viv from Melksham Mum, now 76 Sunflowers at Camp Bestival in 2012, she’s been going for 4 years and even took the kids on her own one year. So do read more on her blog there is quite a collection of posts here.

Now Sonya’s post about failing at camping made me really laugh and seeing this post proves she had a great time despite the camping fears.

Kara from Chelsea Mamma, came down for the day with her five children (did I get that right?) to pop her festival cherry as she explains!  Tattooed Mummy is another festival expert and worth saying hello to on Twitter or read her thoughts on why festivals are great for rebooting  here.

Kara and 6 week old baby. Awwww! I got a cuddle too.

Annie from Mammasaurus was also there both the last two years, we caught up in the midst of watching the Gruffalo, but she sadly missed the Pimms meet up due to poorly child, but she will be there this year and we will drink Pimms! See her lovely pictures here.

I also ran into Uju from Babes About Town and her beautiful babes in 2012, read her really thorough run down on this year’s acts here.

I will leave you with some video evidence of all the fun from 2012 and a packing list. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments.
