My trip to Eden Hall has had quite a profound effect on me.
As Friday approached my friends and I weren’t sure we would all make it, the first week back to work and school was chaos, I lost two work afternoons to taking the kids to hospital: one to casualty, one to a routine eye test. Taking a day out in the first week back after a holiday seemed incredibly indulgent. But, Eden Hall Spa was the perfect place to stop, to breathe and to truly state my intentions for this year. To bring more balance into the year, to look after my health and to be my true, authentic self. If we find time to look after ourselves, we gain more time. I haven’t been my true self for a while, I haven’t had time to be.
This year already feels different, I couldn’t see it in the midst of last week, but the impact of my day at Eden Hall came with me, nurturing me into this week. I am clearly making changes, inspired by being pampered at Eden Hall, which I will take into next week, and so on. I went for a weekend run, I made soup inspired by one I ate at Eden Hall, I’m eating very healthy meals, I’m saying no to stress, I am thinking about how to work smarter – I can really feel change happening. It’s like an avalanche gently gaining momentum.
Let me show you the day, we had a Wild Rose Spa Day Package. We gathered in the conservatory, a gorgeous sun trap, it’s billowing sails and palm trees make you feel you are on holiday.
There are lovely corner sofas, throws and cushions everywhere so you can truly cosy up for a chat with friends. I went with Becky from thrifty blog Baby Budgeting (read Becky’s post here) and Jen from UK Interiors blog Love Chic Living, who looks very at home in her complimentary robe, read Jen’s post here.
Amanda from the UK lifestyle Blog Ana Mum Diary looks ready for a day of fun in the indoor sun, what a view too. Read Amanda’s post here.
We quickly put the world to rights, the conservatory is a wonderful place for a gossip.
We drank tea and coffee and familiarised ourselves with our schedule, the Wild Rose Spa Day includes a Wild Rose facial and lunch as well as use of all the amazing facilities.
A proper spa should always have cake on hand, these were spotted in the Conservatory – perfect for afternoon tea.
It was soon time for my Wild Rose facial. I love Aromatherapy Associates products, I am a huge fan of aromatherapy essential oils because the impact on your body AND mind is just wonderful.
The idea of the rose is to hydrate and give your skin a glow, I think you can really see it’s effect here – mentally and physically. It’s a 25 minute treatment that packs an incredible punch, in the loveliest way of course.
I met up with Amanda and Jen in the recovery room after, another sun trap, with loungers, throws and beautiful views and decor. We were are really impressed that apart from the Aromatherapy Associates products being amazing, the staff are too; the massage techniques used on your face, head, shoulders are truly wonderful.
After joining up with Becky, who had a manicure and pedicure, it was time for lunch. Eden Hall food is amazing. I am very critical of vegetarian offerings when eating out, and when I first saw the menu thought the choices were a little obvious, but my parsnip soup was so good I had to try and recreate it at home and my red onion tart truly celebrated the glory of vegetables; the pastry and cheese merely complimented, rather than provided the bulk of the dish as so often is the case with vegetarian options. The salad bar was full of tasty options too.
I went for Eve’s pudding, which was served beautifully, and as you can see looked very at home in the sumptuous decor of the dining room, which also has beautiful garden views.
Our only regret was that husbands couldn’t be on hand to pick the kids up at the end of the day, so we had to leave mid afternoon for the school run. It’s the first time I haven’t fully tested the spa facilities out, but from previous visits I can assure you, they are really quite stunning, especially the outdoor hot tubs, which I would definitely have braved on a sunny January day. But, I was equally happy to cosy up in the conservatory and put the world to rights. I am ready for you now 2015.
The saltwater vitality pools, water therapies, gym, classes, robes towels, 3 course lunch and a wild rose facial are all included in the Wild Rose Spa Day package which is £99. Available Sunday to Thursday through January 2015.
I am also enticed by an evening package, perfect for couples or friends looking for an alternative to a night on the tiles in January! I have promised to take Mr A.
