Helena Tyce Designs
I’ve found the perfect gift for Father’s Day, by local Nottingham artist Helena Tyce. Helena worked for Liberty after training as a surface pattern designer, before forming Helena Tyce Designs when her children were born. Her range is all about art inspired by life. She has also been busy designing the art work for a new Nottingham family friendly festival Gloworm, two great ideas for Father’s Day here!
Helena and I have never met, but we have a lot of mutual friends, or people who know of her, from the See How She Runs ladies I run with each week, to Becky at Colour Lover, and lovely mums I have befriended in my kids’ playground. So it was fab to receive my delivery of Helena’s Father’s Day designs via the playground. Yours of course can be expertly and safely delivered in the conventional way, by post, Helena has a shop on her site although you may have seen her designs online and in gift shops too.
They were beautifully packaged, the mug even had some chocolate buttons hiding inside – what a lovely touch! The quality is excellent and it’s good to know the mug is dishwasher proof as it would never get used in this house otherwise!
I love Helena’s vintage inspired designs and playful words. Her mix of hand drawn illustrations, paintings, iconic British imagery, words, letterpress and prints creates warmth and richness which finds a way into people’s hearts. I’ve popped round to see local friends and been given a Helena Tyce mug or had a new card or art print pointed out, she really is a talking point! She has prints, stationary, personalised gifts – lovely ideas for when you are looking for a really original gift.
The bear mug can be personalised too.
Friends on the internet can be just as wonderful as friends in real life. Helena made me really giggle when I was having a trying day and she shared her latest design with me on facebook. Perfect don’t you think?
Helena has also been busy designing the art work for the rather fabulous sounding Gloworm family festival which takes place in Clumber Park Nottingham this August.
Glowworm is a brand new family friendly festival for all ages, full of music, art and entertainment that will inspire your imaginations and invitations to play in a warm, friendly and creative environment.
Once you have a ticket there are no hidden costs, apart from food, drinks and market stalls. The rides, workshops and activities are free, once you have paid your weekend entrance fee of £24.75 for adults and £8.25 for children, under 3s are free. Gloworm aren’t providing camping, but there are lots of lovely places to stay in Nottingham.
Another fab idea for a Father’s Day gift that keeps on giving!
