We were offered some Dr Cool Science kits to try out, they went down a treat at our house. L is Science mad. G can be reluctant to join in our Saturday morning craft explosions, but these activities really drew him in.
Especially digging for shark teeth….
There are 3 different teeth to find…
He is 6, he found it a bit fiddly, he did some himself, some L helped and then Mr A helped him too. But he was glued to it the whole time!
Then it was onto crystal growin, this kit really caught his imagination. I suspect he probably thought that he could sell them and make a fortune. But he has developed a fascination with their magical powers since he bought some amethysts at the nature reserve because the sign said they might help with sleep. He really struggles to turn off his massive imagination at night.
Each Dr Cool set comes with an Activity booklet and full instructions.
We set it all up in a jam jar and left them to do their magic. Meanwhile we learnt more about where the crystal we were making comes from, in the activity booklet. We found Morocco on the map, so now we have another fabulous reason to visit and stick a pin in North Africa. The activity book was great, it was pitched just right, pictures and not too much text. Tutorial on making a map pinboard on Space in Your Case. Sorry for the wobbly picture, I was also holding a 6 year old in the other arm!
G was a little disappointed the crystals didn’t grow as big as the jar, but he really enjoyed seeing them grow in the kitchen window over the weeks.
This weekend we are hoping to find time to test the Volcano kit! I will share on my instagram when we do!
You can find all these products and more at the Dr Cool store. They make a really great alternative to toys as presents at kids parties.
